Frequently Asked Questions

It is often very useful for us to receive screen shots from you when sending us support emails and describing an issue. However, these screen shots need to be able to be read so here are some tips to keep in mind when taking a screen shot. 1. Use the Alt+ Print Screen keys on the keyboard where possible – this will grab the current dialog/window. However, if you need the background behind the dialog as well as the dialog or need to show a dropdown box option then just use the Print Screen key.

If you are experiencing Import from Google Earth no longer working this can be due to a number of factors. Here are some known causes of issues and solutions.
Note that in Version 18+ you can right-click on the top of the Import from Google Earth window (next to “Import from Google Earth” at the top left) and select “DevTools”. Go to The “Console” tab to see any messages.

1. The image displays with the words “For Development purposes only” tiled over the image. This is usually caused by billing not being enabled on your Google account. In Version 18’s DevTools “Console” tab, the error message will be “You must enable Billing on the Google Cloud Project”. See our forum post
https://www.irricad.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=607#Existing for assistance. If you have previously linked a credit card for billing on your API key then an expired credit card will give the same message. Log into the Google console and update the credit card details.

IRRICADTM Standalone is based on a Visual CADD engine and therefore there may be some compatibility issues between DWG/DXF files and IRRICADTM Standalone. Note that the newer the IRRICADTM version the greater the compatibility will be.

The most common errors and the solutions are listed below.

1. File version.
IRRICADTM Version 16 and 17 can import up to 2017 format DXF/DWG files. If the file is in a newer format the error message will be similar to “Open DWG Error #3, Can’t open file”.
Solution: Resave the file in AutoCAD, BricsCAD or Draft Sight to an older version.
See the IRRICADTM Release Notes – “Increased Support for AutoCAD File Format” for your version if you are running an older version of IRRICADTM.

If upon selecting File|Print or File|Export PDF File IRRICADTM crashes unexpectedly then the cause could be a corruption or old printer specified in the registry. To fix this select Draw|Plot Layout and set the Printer and plot layout as you prefer. Then click the [Save as Default] button – this will overwrite the current default printer in the registry or any corruption to the setting. RESTART IRRICADTM

If after installing IRRICADTM on a new PC, and you have restarted the computer or re-installed the Sentinel Protection Installer, the dongle is not recognised check in the Control Panel | Device Manager under “Universal Serial Bus Controllers” – under normal circumstances you should see an entry for the “SafeNet USB SuperPro/UltraPro”. If the dongle is not listed under “Universal Serial Bus Controllers” check under “Other Devices” in the Device Manager and if the SuperPro is listed follow the below steps:-

1. For 64-bit computers download the required .inf from http://www.irricad.com/irricad/download/Help/sntusb64.zip
Save the file to your hard-drive and extract the contents. This will create a “sntusb64.inf_amd64_ 66aa0ee786194734” folder inside the sntusb64 folder.
For 32-bit computers download the required .inf from http://www.irricad.com/irricad/download/Help/sntnlusb.zip Save the file to your hard-drive and extract the contents. This will create a “sntnlusb_140C253D4B80F7B11F1AA1A2336263B69F202A7F” folder inside the sntnlusb folder.

Here are some of the possible causes for errors in “Hardware Protection Device (HPD) not found” errors. Some of the points may seem basic, but all are worth checking.

[*]Check that the dongle works by loading IRRICADTM on another machine and using that dongle does IRRICADTM run. Hopefully the dongle is not physically broken.

[*]Check that IRRICADTM was installed with administrator privileges, as XP requires admin privileges to load the dongle driver. Vista, Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 require Admin privileges and also Write Access to the Temp folder.

[*]Check that the XP firewall is off (can be turned on later).

[*]Check that the dongle is correctly seated in the port.

[*]Check that the Sentinel drivers are loaded correctly by going through “Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs” and checking that “Sentinel Protection Installer” is present. CANCEL out of this once you have checked it. If the drivers are not present, then you will need to load the drivers from the Irricad CD by going through Explorer (“install/drivers/ etc). Remember when installing IRRICADTM or the sentinel driver you should have the USB dongle connected.
If the drivers are present, you could try to download the latest ones from the Safenet website ( http://www.safenet-inc.com/support/tech/sentinel.asp ). You will need to uninstall the old drivers first.

[*]Check if the driver is running. Do this through “My computer | Properties | Hardware | Device Manager” then “View | Show hidden devices | Non Plug & Play Devices” you should see the Sentinel.
